Preparation for hospitalization①「meal」
The surgery was decided at the end of May, and the planned hospitalization date was the end of July. I was very grateful to have about two months to prepare. I started preparing by thinking about the house, the children, and what to do after discharge. First of all, I was most concerned about food. I had never been away from home for even a week, so this was a big deal for the family! My husband, Mr. T, doesn’t usually cook (except for the occasional pasta he makes, which is delicious), and even though my children are in junior high and high school, he sometimes bakes bread for breakfast. I really wish I had raised all three of them to be good cooks. First of all, since it was summer vacation, anyone who wanted to eat breakfast cooked it themselves (I prepared natto, bread, cereal, etc.). If you don’t want to eat it, you don’t have to (lol). In my experience, lunch is the most troublesome, so I decided to prepare lunch for a week. After doing some research, I decided to make frozen lunches. I packed everything into a lunch box, froze it, and heated it up just before eating. I prepared disposable lunch boxes that were microwaveable (I found three for 100 yen at Seria!). Since it was midsummer, I felt safe to freeze them. I started making this a week before I was hospitalized. For dinner, I prepared meat-wrapped vegetables, meat and potatoes, simmered daikon and chicken wings, and kinpira burdock. I also prepared other dishes that could be eaten immediately by heating them in the microwave. As a result, the men in my family ate out at night, as expected, and these prepared dishes remained in the freezer.
